Fleur first discovered her gift as a young girl. Starting at the age of four, she heard voices all the time, spirits visited in her bedroom at night, and she saw auras around people. However, it was many years later, while attending UCLA as a pre-med student, that she gave her first reading. Word of mouth spread quickly, and after graduating, she began giving readings full time. Residing in Los Angeles with her little dog Phoebe, Fleur is on a mission to connect as many people as she can to their loved ones on the other side.

Claire Bidwell Smith is an internationally renowned author, speaker, and grief expert. She is the author of three books of nonfiction: The Rules of Inheritance (Penguin, 2012), After This: When Life Is Over Where Do We Go? (Penguin, 2015) and Anxiety: The Missing Stage of Grief (Da Capo, 2018). Claire comes to this work from a personal place. By the time she was 25, she had lost her mother and father to cancer. She was their only child and had her adolescence shaped by their diagnoses, treatments, and eventual deaths. After they were gone Claire was left feeling very alone in the world, consumed with anxiety and depression. Years later she now understands that what she experienced was normal. These devastating losses helped lead her to dedicate her life’s work to understanding loss and grief in an effort to help others.
The Rules of Inheritance, a coming-of-age memoir about grief, was a Books for a Better Life Nominee, a Barnes & Noble Discover pick, has been published in 19 countries, and is currently in development for film. After This chronicles Claire’s journey searching for meaning as she explores various beliefs about the afterlife. Anxiety: The Missing Stage of Grief builds on Claire’s ten years of working as a grief therapist.
Claire has written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Huffington Post, Salon.com, Slate, Chicago Public Radio, Psychology Today, Yoga Journal, and BlackBook Magazine. Claire has a bachelor’s degree from The New School University and a master’s degree from Antioch University. She is a former licensed therapist and continues to works with clients around the world via her online programs, and doing in-person, phone and Skype grief coaching sessions. Since the publication of her books Claire has made many media appearances on both television and radio, gone on to speak and lecture at numerous events, and regularly leads dozens of workshops and retreats on both writing and grief. Claire deeply loves her work and seeks to further the conversation about death in order to help our culture reach a healthier understanding of how to move through grief.
